YPSILANTI - The members of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary society and the Accounting Club of the EMU College of Business are offering a free tax preparation program for members of the local community and EMU students.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance service is free to students and community members with a demonstrated annual income of $52,000 or less. Each student involved is certified with the Internal Revenue Service to ensure the filings are done accurately.
“This is a great opportunity for both students and the community,” said Umar Rabbimov, the program coordinator. “For students, it is a great way to give back to society through their knowledge of tax preparation and for the community it provides relief.”
There are two locations available for easier access. The appointments are on a first come, first serve basis. The locations are at the EMU College of Business, 300 W. Michigan Ave., Room 211 and 215 and the EMU Halle Library, 955 W. Circle Drive, Room G11. The first of eleven dates is this Saturday, Feb. 8,10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
