Several enhancements were made to the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) website at www.emich.edu by the Integrated Content team within the EMU Division of Communications.
"These enhancements free up precious screen real estate and provide increased functionality on touch screens and mobile devices," said Darcy Gifford, Executive Director, Integrated Content. "They are based upon best practices, user feedback, comparative user interface research and web analytics data."
The following is a list of recent web enhancements:
Links that were once located along the top right of the site (i.e., Calendars, Maps & Directions, Parents, Faculty & Staff, Contacts, EagleMail and My.emich) have been grouped into a single drop-down menu named Quick Links. The drop-down menu is touch screen compatible.
Single Search Box
No longer will users need to select a button to limit their search results. A single search box now allows for search results from all EMU webpages along with the EMU Online Directory. Users are now presented with a single search results page that delineates web and directory content. This marks the first time users of www.emich.edu will be able to search the web and EMU Online Directory from their smart phones or mobile devices.
Degrees & Programs Search
Users can now discover degrees and programs offered in the EMU online catalog via a new Degrees & Programs webpage. Users can search both the undergraduate and graduate catalogs by keyword or limit their search by college, department, degree type and more.
Make a Gift Button
A prominent Make a Gift button has been added to the bottom of the page. Users who click the link will be taken to the EMU Foundation homepage.
