YPSILANTI – The Explore Eastern open house event, which invites high school and prospective transfer students to experience Eastern Michigan University and meet members of the faculty, deans and staff members, has the highest level of registrations in the last four years.
As of Friday, 640 students had signed up to attend the open house, an increase of nearly six percent over 2013’s winter open house registrations, and a 44 percent increase from 2012. The total is the highest since 2010.
During the Open House, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at the Student Center, EMU faculty will be available to discuss specific majors and academic programs. EMU staff from housing, dining, career services, leadership and involvement, financial aid, scholarships and other areas will also be on hand to answer questions.
There will also be campus tours throughout the day led by current EMU students. The tours will be offered at 9 a.m., 11:25 a.m. and 12:55 p.m.
The day will also include several special events, including a Preparing for College Writing Workshop. The workshop will provide tips for parents and students who want to learn more about college writing.
Parking for Explore Eastern is free in the Student Center parking lot off Oakwood St. The Student Center is located at 900 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti, 48197.
