EMU provost announces leadership changes within academic affairs
YPSILANTI - Donald Loppnow, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, today announced two leadership changes within academic affairs at Eastern Michigan University.
“Initially Dennis will assume these new responsibilities on a half-time basis while also continuing halftime as department head,” Loppnow said. A faculty member, who will serve as departmental coordinator, will assist Beagen with departmental responsibilities. As the campaign is formally launched, Beagen will move to the executive associate position on a full-time basis. Beagen, whose new appointment is effective immediately, has served in a number of leadership positions at EMU including heading two campaigns, Loppnow said. Loppnow also announced that John Dugger would step down from his position as dean of the college of technology, effective at the end of the winter semester. Dugger will return to the faculty as a professor in the school of technology following an administrative sabbatical. “We appreciate Dean Dugger’s service to the University and leadership in facilitating the reorganization of the college, launching the technology Ph.D. program and emphasizing sponsored research,” said Loppnow. The process of selecting an interim dean will begin soon. Loppnow said he hopes to have a new dean selected by early March.
