EMU management expert at book signing Feb. 19

YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University professor Gregory E. Huszczo, a management expert and author, will discuss X-factor leadership and sign his latest book, “Tools for Team Leadership: Delivering the X-Factor in Team Excellence,” Saturday, Feb. 19, 2-4 p.m., at Barnes and Noble Bookstore, 3235 Washtenaw, Ann Arbor.

Huszczo’s book, published by Davies-Black Publishing of Palo Alto, Calif., is a practical guide that offers more than 80 new and field-tested tools for managers, trainers, consultants and team members struggling to help their teams succeed.

“In today’s competitive environment, everyone is under pressure to succeed. It’s important to understand the key components that separate the excellent organizational teams from the mediocre ones,” said Huszczo. “By using specific tools, a team can learn to diagnose its strengths and weaknesses, help establish a clear sense of direction, improve communications and ensure systematic problem-solving and decision-making.”

Topics covered in the book include: the need for team leaders at all levels; natural leadership strengths; effective teambuilding; knowing why a team exists; communication; problem-solving and decision-making; conflict resolution; motivating and coaching teams to success; leaders as ambassadors of team-based change efforts; motivating and reviving teams; and helping a team of leaders.

Huszczo received acclaim for his previous book, “Tools for Team Excellence: Getting Your Team Into High Gear and Keeping It There,” published by Davies-Black Publishing of Palo Alto, Calif.

The book was the selection for the Book of the Month Club International, Executive Program Book Club and Fast Track Audio Book Club.

A professor of organizational behavior and development in EMU’s Department of Management, Huszczo is an award-winning teacher, researcher, and an industrial/organizational psychologist with more than 30 years of experience.

He has worked with more than 100 organizations including Ford Motor Company, La-Z-Boy, Digital Equipment Corporation, UAW, Navistar and the American Red Cross as well as numerous public sector agencies, school systems and hospitals.

He is a resident of Ann Arbor, Mich.
