EMU offers chance to hit the slopes, books during spring break
YPSILANTI - A lot of students head south during spring break, but if you want to have fun and earn college credits you may want to think in a more northerly direction.
Eastern Michigan University is offering a variety of classes for credit at Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord, Michigan from Feb. 27-March 4.
“The Winter Break one-week courses offer students the opportunity to earn credits in an accelerated-format, which helps them graduate more quickly,” said Shannon Ward, who coordinates the Northern Michigan classes for EMU’s Continuing Education. “The location of the courses – at Otsego Club and Resort – serves as a ‘learning community’ for the week, so the students have an additional learning experience.
Ward said there are plenty of events, such as organized sled trips, which make the experience more fun than just taking a course.
Aside from regular courses such as communication, history, literature, and political science, there are also courses in skiing and snowboarding.
