EMU Men's Basketball Coach Jim Boone relieved of duties

YPSILANTI – Eastern Michigan University Men's Basketball Coach Jim Boone will not have his contract renewed for the 2005-2006 season, EMU Athletics Director Dave Diles announced today.

"We are very grateful to Jim Boone and his staff for the dedication they have given to Eastern Michigan University and to the men's basketball student-athletes over the past five years," Diles said. "This was a difficult decision to make, but we felt that a change needed to be made to move the program forward on a positive note."

In 19 years as a head coach at EMU and other universities, Boone holds a 321-223 record. This year's Eagles team finished with a 12-17 overall record.

No successor has been announced.
