Kirkpatrick withdraws from consideration for Chancellor job at University of Wisconsin
YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University President Dr. Samuel A. Kirkpatrick has withdrawn his name from consideration for the chancellor position at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee (UWM).
"After taking into account the Wisconsin campus and System situation, I concluded that this is not the right move at the right time," said Kirkpatrick, who became EMU's 19th president in 2000. "UWM is a strong university and I am flattered to have been recruited, but there is an unfinished agenda at EMU."
"My wife and I enjoy Michigan, and we are very gratified by the outpouring of support and the strong encouragement we have received to remain here," said Kirkpatrick.
Eastern Michigan University is a public, comprehensive
university that offers programs in the arts, sciences and professions.
EMU prepares students with the intellectual skills and practical experiences
