Gordon resigns from Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents

YPSILANTI - In a surprise announcement today, Eastern Michigan University Regent Steven Gordon tendered his resignation from the EMU Board of Regents.

Gordon said in his letter of resignation that due to his business schedule he is finding it more and more difficult to commit the necessary time that being a regent requires, and that he no longer feels that he is the right “fit” for the Board.

“I have enjoyed participating in the search for a new University President, and I believe the decision to select John Fallon for the position will prove to be a wise choice and ensure the success of the University during these turbulent times,” Gordon said.
“EMU has an outstanding Board of Regents and I know that I am leaving the University in good, capable hands.”

Former Governor John Engler appointed Gordon, president of Signature Associates, to a term expiring Dec. 31, 2006. Gordon has notified Gov. Jennifer Granholm’s office of his resignation. She is expected to appoint a Regent to fill the remainder of his term.
