EMU to host young alumni life/career skills program May 16
YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University graduates of the last decade (GOLD) are invited to attend a young alumni life/career skills workshop hosted by the Office for Alumni Relations, Tuesday, May 16, at EMU’s McKenny Union, 850 W. Cross Street, Ypsilanti.
The evening begins with an hors d’oeuvres reception from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by two 45-minute workshops beginning at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per person and includes session materials and the reception.
This informative program is designed to provide practical information to help successfully manage the demands of life after graduation. Session topics for participants to choose from include self-marketing and personal effectiveness, handling finances, and managing time, stress and professional relationships. Speakers include Dr. Megan Endres from EMU’s MBA program, Richard Griffin of Merrill Lynch of Ann Arbor, and EMU staff from the Career Services and Health Education departments.
Register to attend by contacting the Office for Alumni Relations at 734.487.0250 or e-mail: email@example.com.
The GOLD program is open to all EMU graduates of the past 10 years and serves the Alumni Association by catering to the needs of its younger constituents. Like the Alumni Association, there are no dues for GOLD membership. Events are designed to further the program’s mission of fostering strong bonds between young alumni and EMU through social, networking, educational and volunteer opportunities.
“We designed this program, especially for recent graduates and have secured some dynamic presenters,” said Ken Ruppel, assistant director of constituent relations. “Attending this workshop will prove to be a worthwhile investment and a great way to become involved in GOLD events.”
