Eastern Michigan University, Michigan Education Association salute state school employees and their role in promoting education first
YPSILANTI — Michigan’s educators – faculty, staff and other school employees - will be saluted throughout the month of May for their role in educating the state’s youth.
Eastern Michigan University and the Michigan Education Association have teamed up to honor the State of Michigan’s dedicated school employees through a billboard campaign. Green and white billboards, with the theme, “Thank a School Employee,” are located at I-94 at Belleville Rd; the Southfield Freeway at Grand River Ave.; the Lodge Freeway at Greenfield Rd; and I-94 at Greenfield Rd., starting May 6, which is National Teachers Day. The campaign continues throughout the month.
“The MEA is proud to work with Eastern Michigan in honoring Michigan’s hard-working school employees,” said MEA President Iris K. Salters. “Dedicated teachers and support staff strive every day to prepare students for 21st century jobs. It’s important that we stop to thank them for their efforts now and throughout the school year.”
EMU has been educating teachers and school personnel since 1849. The MEA has been serving school employees since 1852.
