EMU Regents establish ad hoc athletic affairs advisory committee

YPSILANTI - Karen Valvo, vice chair of the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents, announced today that the Board has established an ad hoc athletic affairs advisory committee.

The ad hoc committee will meet regularly with the athletic director and departmental representatives to review and evaluate athletic programs, policies, advancement initiatives and athletic-related community relationships. It will also review the athletic department budget to ensure that the University is providing a high quality academic and athletic experience for student athletes.

"In light of the changes that have taken place in the athletic department and the ongoing financial challenges the University faces, the Board felt it was prudent to establish this ad hoc committee so that it is fully informed regarding intercollegiate athletic issues," Valvo said.

Regent Roy Wilbanks will chair the ad hoc committee. Regent Jan Brandon also will serve on the committee.
