EMU plans GOLD get-together for recent graduates June 2
YPSILANTI - All alumni are special, but a new group of Eastern Michigan University graduates are golden.
In Michigan, there are more than 27,000 EMU alumni who have graduated since 1995 who are members of the University's Graduates Of the Last Decade (GOLD) program. For these graduates, EMU is hosting the Young Alumni Happy Hour June 2, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Bailey's Pub and Grille in Canton.
"We realize that our more recent alumni have different interests from their counterparts. Many are looking to network and advance their career," said Ken Ruppel, EMU assistant director for constituent relations. "Others have a young family and want shorter, less expensive outings."
They are all members of the GOLD program, which celebrates those differences and helps more recent alumni stay connected to EMU through a variety of programs focused on socializing, career networking, service and education, said Ruppel.
"We're reaching out and doing fun things now so young alumni will connect and possibly be lifelong contributors later in life," said Ruppel.
