EMU professor joins board of Michigan Dietetic Association

YPSILANTIJudith L. Brooks, associate professor and coordinator of Eastern Michigan University’s Dietetics and Human Nutrition Program, was elected to serve a three-year term as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Dietetic Association (MDA) Institute. The Institute is the scholarship arm of the MDA.

“I feel it is important to give back to the profession, and this is one way that I can serve,” said Brooks, of Ypsilanti. “MDA members are the leading source of food and nutrition information in Michigan. Being able to provide them with more support and more opportunities for education means that we can better promote much-needed health and nutrition information.”

The Institute funds scholarships to assist Michigan residents who want to pursue training in dietetics; provide continuing education for registered dieticians; and support research related to dietetic education and practice in Michigan.

More than 2,000 registered dieticians, dietetic technicians and dietetics students belong to the MDA.
