Enjoy taste fest, basketball and more at Score for Kids event Aug. 4
YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University will lend its support to the Huron Valley Boys & Girls Club’s Second Annual Score for Kids featuring a basketball tournament, reception and taste fest, Aug. 4. The event benefits area youth.
Members of EMU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will help kick off the basketball tournament, offering tips to players beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the club (220 North Park St.) Approximately 50 children from the Ypsilanti area will participate.
Freman Hendrix, EMU’s government relations officer, and AnnMarie Gilbert, EMU’s head women’s basketball coach, will be featured guests during the awards ceremony and evening program. The reception begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.
The Boys & Girls Club provides children, ages 6-18, with a safe place to participate in a variety of educational and recreational programs, according to Frank Rigger, club director.
