EMU students "shop 'til they drop" while celebrating Meijer Madness Sept. 1

WHO:             More than 6,000 EMU students will be looking for bargains, enjoying friends, and having fun at the Meijer store in Pittsfield. EMU's Interim President Craig Willis and his wife, Marilyn, will visit. Swoop will also make a guest appearance and welcome students.

WHAT:             Meijer Madness is a back-to-school celebration and a healthy, low-risk activity to get EMU students to connect socially with each other. Students can also explore the community and discover off-campus businesses.

The fun includes WKOL 107 FM radio broadcasting until 9 p.m.; dancing, karaoke and a local disc jockey entertaining until midnight; and rock-climbing, and a football toss and a basketball shootout.

EMU assistant professor Judi Brooks will include an in-store demonstration on "How to Make Healthy Meals in your Room."

Also, students will be offered bargains on all types of goods needed to make a residence hall a home away from home.

WHEN:             Wednesday, Sept. 1, 7 p.m. - midnight.

WHERE:             Meijers, 3825 Carpenter Road, Pittsfield Township.
