Eagle Crest golf team advances to Buick national championship

YPSILANTI - The five-person team from Eagle Crest Golf Club recently captured the gross division title at the Buick Scramble Michigan PGA Sectional Championship in Manistee.

With the victory, the team advances to the 2005 Buick Scramble National Championships in Orlando, Oct. 13-16.

“I’m excited to be representing Eagle Crest Golf Club and Eastern Michigan University at the Buick Finals,” said David Horstman, Eagle Crest’s head PGA golf pro. “We’ll try our best to bring the trophy home to Ypsilanti.”

Horstman teamed with Jewel Threet, Randy Faust, Mark Merriman and Todd Clark to shoot a 16-under-par 56 to win their division by one stroke.

More than 200 teams from across the country will compete at the championship in Orlando. Tiger Woods will present the trophies at the national event.
