Eastern Michian University, lecturers' union reach tentative agreement

YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University has reached a tentative agreement with the Eastern Michigan University Federation of Teachers (EMU-FT).

The union, established at EMU in 2001, represents approximately 133 lecturers who have full-time, temporary teaching appointments.

“Both sides have demonstrated their tremendous commitment and dedication to the students of EMU by staying at the table and reaching a tentative agreement,” said Don Loppnow, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. “I would like to commend everyone for their hard work.”

As a courtesy to the EMU-FT, EMU will not release details of the tentative agreement until the union has had the opportunity to inform its membership.

The EMU-FT contract extension expired Sept. 18. The original contract expired Aug. 31.
