EMU to recognize scholarship recipients at Convocation of Excellence Oct. 7
YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University will host its annual Freshman Convocation of Excellence, Saturday, Oct. 7, 10:30 a.m. – noon, at EMU’s Pease Auditorium. A reception will immediately follow for participants and their families.
The event honors students who have been awarded top academic scholarships and athletic awards. The University will also honor 18 outstanding high school teachers and counselors who have made a significant impact on their students. The winners were selected from among the 1,400 names nominated by EMU’s incoming freshman class.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to publicly recognize excellence in our students,” said Bernice Lindke, interim vice president of enrollment management. “It is also a time to honor 18 outstanding educators and counselors who have had a special and significant influence in our students’ lives.”
This is the fifth year that EMU has hosted the event.
