Women's volleyball team to go 'all pink' for beast cancer Oct. 18
YPSILANTI —The EMU volleyball team will again be going 'all pink' in an effort to raise awareness and support of breast cancer research during their match against Miami Oct. 18, 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
All proceeds from the 'Dig Pink' event will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports health care professionals in their pursuit of practical solutions for women and men with breast cancer.
This year’s goal is to raise $8,000 towards the Side-Out Foundation's overall goal of $350,000. Last year, the EMU Volleyball team raised $4,000, and their goal is to double last year's efforts.
TCF Bank is this year's game-day sponsor, and will provide giveaways for fans. The first 500 fans to arrive will receive a pink, TCF piggy bank and all donors to the cause will receive mini-volleyball for their support. emYOU! The Magazine will be selling t-shirts, with all proceeds benefiting the Side-Out Foundation. EMU will also provide three pink and white regulation autographed volleyballs to be auctioned off.
This year, the Ypsilanti Buffalo Wild Wings has also joined the team’s efforts by donating 20 percent of all food and beverage sales on October 18 to the cause. Those attending the EMU football game against Akron at 1 p.m. will be able to redeem their football ticket for a complimentary ticket to the volleyball match, and raffle tickets will be given away at the gates to both events for a chance to win $200 worth of prizes provided by TCF Bank.
