College of Business Career Day attracts record number of companies
YPSILANTI - Despite the tough job market, an annual Career Day, sponsored by Eastern Michigan University’s College of Business Oct. 5, attracted a record number of companies looking to hire interns and employees.
The 17th annual event was sponsored by EMU’s Career Services Center in association with the College of Business and ANR Pipeline of Detroit.
More than 60 prospective employers, representing fields such as accounting, human resources, management and software engineering, met with students interested in internships and full-time positions. Companies included Comerica, Inc., Ann Arbor Radio, Quicken Loans and Chrysler LLC.
The day began with a series of discussion panels lead by experts, followed by the two-hour job fair. More than 500 students attended the event.
“This was an excellent opportunity for our students to get great career advice from our alumni and other professionals,” said David Mielke, dean, College of Business.
Eastern Michigan University is a public, comprehensive university that offers programs in the arts, sciences and professions. EMU prepares students with the intellectual skills and practical experiences to succeed in their career and lives, and to be better citizens.
