EMU hosts panel discussion about bird flu

YPSILANTI - Important issues surrounding the potential of an avian influenza epidemic and what the county is doing to prepare for such an event will be discussed at a bird flu panel presentation Nov. 30, 6:30-8 p.m., in EMU’s McKenny Union Ballroom.

Patricia Somsel from the Michigan Department of Community Health; Duane Newton, from the Microbiology/Virology Lab at the University of Michigan Health System; and Laura Bauman, from Washtenaw County Public Health, will speak at the event. 

            The presentation is free and open to the public.

Eastern Michigan University’s Clinical Lab Sciences Organization, Student Nurses Association, the Health Administration Student Organization and the College of Health and Human Services are sponsoring the event.
