Lt. Gov. Cherry to speak at EMU police staff and command event Nov. 11

YPSILANTI - Lt. Governor John Cherry will be the guest speaker at Eastern Michigan University’s Police Staff and Command “graduation” ceremony Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m.

The event will be at the Holiday Inn (3600 Plymouth Rd.) in Ann Arbor. For more information, call 734.487.1590.

Approximately 45 officers, representing 15 police forces in southeastern Michigan, will receive certificates for completion of the program. The program is sponsored by EMU’s Center for Regional and National Security. The program provides local law enforcement officers with the highest level of leadership and management skills, said Tony Martin, administrative coordinator of CeRNS.

Since its creation in 1985, EMU’s School of Police Staff and Command has graduated more than 1,500 officers from its program.
