Mystery writer Peter Leonard to speak Nov. 16 at Eastern Michigan
YPSILANTI —A tragic bow-hunting accident and a gang of cons set the stage for Peter Leonard’s crime novel, Quiver, which was published this year. Leonard, a 1974 alumnus of Eastern Michigan University and son of the famous crime novelist Elmore “Dutch” Leonard, will discuss his new book at the Friends of the Library annual meeting, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2 – 4 p.m., rooms 300 - 301 Halle Library, on EMU’s Ypsilanti campus. The program is free and open to the public.
Quiver tells the story of Kate McCall’s husband, who was killed by her son, Luke, in a bow-hunting accident. While Kate struggles with her son’s guilt, her first love, Jack, an ex-con, reappears, along with a crew of his former “colleagues.” Jack’s appearance sets into motion a series of events culminating in a life-and-death confrontation with a gang of killers.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said “Peter Leonard’s energetic style makes one forget the name Elmore and concentrate on Leonard …Good writing may be in his genes, but the style’s all his own.”
