Experience the Magic of the Great Bobini During EMU's Family Day, Oct. 12

YPSILANTI - There will be magic in the air as the Great Bobini, brings eye-opening acts to the stage during the annual Family Day festivities Saturday, Oct. 12, noon - 4 p.m., on the University's main campus in Ypsilanti.

The Great Bobini, a hearing-impaired magician, will dazzle audiences with several amazing feats, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., in EMU's McKenny Union ballroom. Audiences will see the unbelievable when, as part of his performance, he saws a woman in thirds; pulls cards out of the air; and multiplies juggling balls.

Bobini is played by EMU employee Bob Jones, of Toledo. A popular entertainer, Jones has appeared at the well-known Comedy Castle in Royal Oak, MI and at previous Family Day events.

The Great Bobini is one of more than 50 Family Day activities for visitors of all ages. Children's activities include face painting; story-telling; Colors the Clown and her pig, Petunia; chemistry magic; puppet shows; a Harry Potter and Hermione look-alike contest; and a live performance of "Little Red and the Three Pigs."

Activities for teens and adults include learning to create a web-design newspaper; tips on healthy eating; music by the Ypsilanti High Jazz Band; tours of campus; and a look at the "Rainforest Experience," with non-indigenous creatures including live snakes, sloths and porcupines.
