YPSILANTI - Southgate resident Linda Grandy was one of eight students honored by the College of Technology at Eastern Michigan University for outstanding academic achievement. Grandy received an Academic Excellence Award during a special banquet at the Ypsilanti Marriot at Eagle Crest.
This award recognizes Grandy's academic standing within the top 15 percent of her class in the legal assistant program. Approved by the American Bar Association, the program prepares graduates for positions within the legal profession. Grandy received her bachelor of science degree during EMU's April 30 graduation ceremony.
Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University is the fifth largest university in Michigan with 23,000 students, offering nearly 200 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral fields of study in arts and sciences, business, education, health and human services, and technology. Founded as the state's first institution for teacher training, EMU remains the country's largest producer of K-12 educational personnel.
