YPSILANTI - Detroit resident Dikea Simmons was one of eight students honored by the College of Technology at Eastern Michigan University for outstanding academic achievement. Dikea Simmons of Detroit received the Michigan Business Education Association Award for Outstanding Student Teacher during a special banquet at the Ypsilanti Marriot at Eagle Crest.
A 1994 graduate of Cass Technical High School, Detroit, Simmons is completing her student teaching with South East High School, Detroit, business students. She was chosen for this award from a field of very deserving future teachers at EMU.
Recipients of these awards are recognized by the College of Technology for being at the top of their class. They have excelled in mastering the skills necessary to succeed in their fields.
