YPSILANTI &emdash; A team of two men and two women from Eastern Michigan University will defend EMU's national fitness title during the Second Annual Nike Swoosh Challenge fitness competition in Los Angeles April 30.
A team led by team captain Rick Bannon, an assistant strength coach at EMU, and team mates Matt Driscoll, Karie Wildhart and Amy Crickard received a free trip to LA to compete and defend the national title EMU won in the fitness competition last year. They will compete in California against the top 10 teams in the nation.
EMU hosted the regional Nike Swoosh competition April 10, where 17 teams from around the region competed.
The fitness competition features endurance runs, basic fitness tests, indoor rock climbing on a moving machine, tug of war, and an obstacle course.
