YPSILANTI - Lional "Jelly Roll" Dalton, an EMU grad and member of the Superbowl champion Baltimore Ravens, will be the special guest at the EMU Football Golf Outing, Friday, June 8, at the Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti. Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m. Sponsored by the Eastern Michigan University Foundation, the event raises funds for EMU's football program and is part of the ongoing effort to reconnect with past winning traditions.

Dalton is one of the finest interior linemen to come out of Eastern Michigan University. A native of Detroit, Dalton was named Class AA first-team, All-State and All-Public School League by the Detroit Free Press while at Cooley. At EMU, Dalton twice earned first-team All-Mid American Conference honors, was Co-Defensive MVP in 1997, and as a senior, recorded 46 tackles (23 solo) and played in the Hula Bowl All-Star Game. As a pro, Dalton was the only rookie free agent in 1998 to make the Ravens opening day roster. His stellar play helped support his 2000 Superbowl Championship team.

Letter winners from teams as early as the 1940s have been invited, and several eras of EMU football will be represented. Major sponsors to date include EMU Regent Philip Incarnati, Snapple Beverage Group, Absolute Technologies, Aon Risk Sevices and the DeMattia Group.

A raffle featuring several valuable prizes also will raise funds for EMU's football program. Prizes include round-trip airfare for two anywhere in the continental U.S., a Detroit Pistons suite package, EMU football package, Ypsilanti Marriott and Eagle Crest golf package and Detroit Lions premium tickets. Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $40 and winners need not be present to win.

Cost for the outing, which includes lunch, 18 holes of golf, cart, prizes, gifts, beverages on the course, dinner and a contribution to EMU football, is $200 per person. Also available are Hole Sponsorships at $300, Range Sponsorships at $500, and other sponsorships. Advertising on GPS Course Management Modules, featured on all carts at the Eagle Crest Golf Club, also is available.
