EMUs McKenny Union and Campus
Life win
three awards at graphic design competition
YPSILANTI Eastern Michigan Universitys office of Campus Life received
three awards from the Association of College Unions Internationals (ACUI)
10th Annual Steal This Idea competition.
Winners were selected from more than 200 entries. Winners from McKenny Union
and Campus life include: Lindsey Karty, first place for a union homepage designed
by a student; and Melissa Hession, third place for the VISION four-color brochure
and honorable mention for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration T-shirt design.
The competition presents the best promotion and marketing ideas from college
unions and student activities programs so that other students and professional
staff members may steal them for use at their institutions.
All of the pieces that won were student designs, said Glenna Frank
Miller, director of McKenny Union and Campus Life. Thats a definite
message about the quality of the skills students bring to the workplace.
The Association of College Unions International (ACUI), founded in 1914, brings
together college union and student activities professionals from schools worldwide.
It encourages the involvement of students and union staff in ACUI programs,
activities and leadership positions. Through regional committees, newsletters
and conferences, members share ideas and learn about the role of college unions.
Eastern Michigan University is a public comprehensive, metropolitan university
that offers programs in the arts, sciences and professions. EMU prepares students
with the intellectual skills and practical experiences to succeed in their careers
