EMU, LOCAL DEPARTMENT STORE TEAM UP
FOR SECOND ANNUAL MEIJER MADNESS SEPT. 5

YPSILANTI - Eastern Michigan University students looking for back-to-school bargains and fun can take advantage of EMU-Meijer Madness Thursday, Sept. 5, 6 p.m.-midnight, at the Meijer location at 3825 Carpenter Rd., Pittsfield Township.

"Last year we had about 1,500 students and this year we expect more,” said Eric Ward, who is helping coordinate the event. “This is always a lot of fun.”

The event is open to EMU faculty, staff and students with a University ID and includes: free transportation from the campus to the store and back, giveaways, prize drawings, karaoke, miniature golf, an obstacle course and more.

AATA buses will pick up and drop off students at three locations: First Year Center on Ann St.; McKenny Union AATA stop on Washtenaw; and the Towers stop on Oakwood. Buses will leave every 15 minutes and the last bus will leave Meijer at 11:30 p.m.

Students can also drive their own vehicle and enter the store through the outdoor/garden entrance of Meijer.
University Health Services and the Campus Connector Program are sponsoring the event.
