EMU'S PRESIDENT KIRKPATRICK NAMED TO
COMMISSION ON WOMEN IN HIGHER EDUCATION
YPSILANTI - Samuel A. Kirkpatrick, president of Eastern Michigan University, has been named to the American Council on Education's (ACE) Commission on Women in Higher Education.
Composed of prominent educational leaders, the commission counsels ACE and the Office of Women in Higher Education on policies related to women in the field. It also helps evaluate programs; suggests new programs and priorities; and advises on concerns related to expanded roles and equal opportunities for women in higher education. Kirkpatrick's three-year term runs through June 30, 2005.
The American Council on Education is a comprehensive association of the nation's colleges and universities dedicated to higher education issues and advocacy on behalf of quality higher education programs. Counted among the Council's members are more than 1,800 accredited degree-granting public and private colleges and universities and higher education related associations, organizations, and corporations.
