EMUWorldWide Launches Interactive Internet Training Site

YPSILANTI - EMUWorldWide (, a new Internet-based education and training provider through Eastern Michigan University (EMU), has launched its innovative online health and safety, and quality and productivity training programs.

Starting this September, EMUWorldWide will debut its courses by offering Six Sigma, an in-demand quality program that reduces manufacturing costs and errors, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Arlington, VA. Use of Six Sigma techniques has improved quality and saved millions of dollars for manufacturing heavyweights, including General Electric Corporation, Allied Signal and Lockheed Martin.

"Our online learners will receive the same high quality learning experience that Eastern Michigan University students have received for more than 150 years," said Eastern Michigan University President Samuel A. Kirkpatrick. "Through EMUWorldWide courses, business professionals gain the practical skills they need to succeed in our global economy."

EMUWorldWide's interactive, internet-based classrooms allow professionals to attend and participate in classes electronically from any location, allowing them to balance work and personal commitments. By logging onto EMUWorldWide, students can view class updates, information and assignments, download files and coursework and participate in dialogues with students, experts and instructors.

"EMUWorldWide offers students the opportunity to reach their professional and educational goals with the flexibility their busy lives demand," said Ed Goldberg, Ph.D., senior managing director, EMUWorldWide. "Our programs are developed with the best practices of adult learning in mind and tailored to meet the demands for high quality manufacturing and business training. EMUWorldWide opens higher education to anyone with a computer, modem and a desire to learn."

Prior to starting EMUWorldWide, Goldberg was a Distinguished Scholar at Seton Hall University where he was the founding chief executive officer of its online campus, SetonWorldWide. During his tenure with SetonWorldWide, the Chicago Sun-Times called it 'one of the nation's acknowledged leaders in offering complete degree programs online.' Goldberg's higher education career, spanning three decades, includes service as a faculty member, department chair dean, and chancellor of higher education for the state of New Jersey.

The interactive online classrooms of EMUWorldWide provide students with a new, high quality resource for distance education and training. Programs are taught by leading experts in the fields of health and safety, computer and information security, and quality and productivity. The training, where appropriate, complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and can lead to manufacturing facilities' Quality System (QS) registration.

EMUWorldWide also works with corporations to customize existing training programs to develop new programs according to the needs and specifications of each organization. EMUWorldWide and the client organization's staff together perform a needs assessment of the organization's current situation and the most significant issues it faces. EMUWorldWide then calls on top experts to modify the content of a course or program by developing and using case studies drawn from the organization, or a comparable organization, with similar needs.
