March 2003: The West Campus Project
COMMUNITY NEWS: Eastern Michigan University
hosted a focus group meeting for members of
the Ypsilanti community to discuss the University's Master Plan
Wednesday, April 2, at the Convocation Center. Representatives
from the University, as well as representatives from four local
planning and design firms, were on hand to listen to input and
discuss the University's future. Firms that are a part of the
planning and design team include: Pollack Design Associates
of Ann Arbor; The Campus Studio of Ann Arbor; Quinn Evans Architects
of Ann Arbor; and Midwestern Consulting LLC of Ann Arbor. Pollack
Design is coordinating the team. The consultant team's task
is to creatively generate, record and present existing conditions
analysis; planning and design options; facilitate participation
and prepare final documentation. The Campus
Master Plan has four phases: inventory and analysis; master
planning; campus enhancements; and documentation. Anyone who
was unable to attend the April 2 focus group meeting can communicate
their ideas or thoughts about the master plan at masterplan@emich.edu.
There will be another public meeting September
18, 2003. For additional information, call 734.487.4400.
