October 2002 Q&A
Q: Was the work being done at Fletcher School a part of EMU's project?
A: No. The contractor who was working at Fletcher School was not hired by the University. This is not an Eastern Michigan University project.
Q: Has there been a change in the planned use of the service drive?
A: No. During the first year, the service drive will be restricted to specific university departments, contractors and fire and safety vehicles.
Q: There are rumors that a new ice arena is being planned. Is this true?
A: No. There are no plans to build an ice arena.
Q: When will the contractors finish working on site?
A: The contractors will perform 75 percent of the work in 2002. The remaining 25 percent of the work will be completed in spring 2003.
Q: Will anything else be done to mark property lines?
A: Based on initial feedback, plantings of some type - either trees or bushes that are environmentally proper - may be used to mark the property lines. Plans have not yet been finalized.
Q: Has EMU made any further progress on the West Campus plan?
A: No. The University has now decided to do an overall comprehensive campus master plan. "Futuring" exercises will be announced soon, and EMU's neighbors will be invited to participate.
