Q. How has Eastern Michigan addressed the surface water run-off and its effects on the surrounding neighbors?

A. Professional engineers have designed the fields to drain to a new detention pond and area drains from which the water will be dispersed over time to the central drain system. In addition, special consideration was given to reduce the current amount of water that seeks its natural migration path based on land elevations.

Q. When will the final inspection of the tree line that runs along the placement of the construction fence (called the site disturbance line) take place?

A. The plan is for Vice President Patrick Doyle to determine the final placement of the construction fence Wednesday, Aug. 7 at
6 p.m. Interested parties are invited to walk with Doyle.

Q. After development of the site, how will the University handle the area between the softball fields and the University’s property line?

A. The University is developing a landscape plan. The plan will, in part, focus on those areas after construction that may have the greatest exposure to the fields.

Q. What are the plans for the overhead utility lines that run north and south across the site?

A. The plan is to bury the lines underground west of the softball fields.

Q. Construction stakes are now located at the west end of the railroad right-of-way bike path. Does that mean the path is going to close?

A. The far west end of the bike trail will be closed for approximately four weeks to accommodate a pathway from the new University House to the
Convocation Center. After this work is completed, the bike trail will return to its existing pathway.

Q. What are the University’s plans for establishing its property lines, particularly for areas that border homeowners’ property?

A. The University is evaluating how best to establish a line of demarcation such as a tree line, hedges or a fence that will identify its property. Input from homeowners will be solicited to try and find the best way to enhance and protect the property interests of all.
