The Guide for Creating Official Web Sites at EMU
This site is designed to assist
web developers at EMU in creating and maintaining official web sites
based on approved EMU web standards. Before
using the tools and information at this site, you should
understand the basics of web development and the elements of good
design, and have access to a computer containing the software necessary
to create web sites. You should also have a web directory account
that allows you to access your department's web directory on the
server.
As a strategic initiative
at EMU, web development falls under the general
responsibility of the director of Web Communications
and New Media, in collaboration with two
departments: Marketing and Communications,
and Information and Communications Technology.
These departments also share responsibility
for ensuring broad
compliance with EMU web standards and policies.
If you have questions related to web development
at EMU, contact the director
of Web Communications and New Media.
The web team and web
developers at EMU are working to create a
cohesive, sustainable, user-centered web presence.
EMU takes seriously its ongoing responsibility
to its web constituents. Therefore,
EMU takes seriously its web standards and
compliance with these standards. Web designers
should be aware that a failure to comply
with EMU web standards may result in removal
of their web pages / sites from the servers,
and discontinuation of their access and
responsibilities for web sites. If you are
undertaking a new web development project,
you should contact the director of Web Communications
and New Media early in your project to ensure
a smooth process of site development.
