LIT IN GERMAN
The GERMAN programs of study at EMU have long held various distinctions with regards to others in the State of Michigan. As one of the EMU university departments in the United States which created the first interdisciplinary Language and International Trade programs, we continue to offer exciting career possibilities in our International Business German program. Given that the state of Michigan has over 200 German companies, graduates from the LIT program in German have the opportunity to find careers in their home state. The efforts of Professor Margrit Zinggeler help to ensure that LIT students are placed in internships and find employment with German companies at home and abroad; she organizes a visit to a German company each semester with her Business German class. In November 5, 2007, for example, she lead a group of students to visit Mahle, Inc. in Farmington Hills.
One of our most prominent LIT German alumna is now vice-president of Comerica Bank and she now serves on the advisory committee of the International Business program. Another alumna is a manager responsible for the European market at Liebherr in Saline, and several alumni have found employment in subsidiaries of German car manufacturers in Michigan.
