Goal and Mission

At Eastern Michigan University, the professors and lecturers in the German Section are deeply committed to the success of students of German. We encourage students to acquire a high level of proficiency in language, linguistics, and professional language competency in addition to fostering a love of learning and an in-depth knowledge of German literature, history, culture and civilization. Students can follow academic programs in their German Studies in a variety of ways: They can major or minor in German, complete a German Teacher Certificate, as well as earn BA and MA degrees in German Language and Literature and in Language and International Trade.

Master of Arts in German Language (GERN)

Program Features
The master of arts in World languages program (French, German, or Spanish) will help improve your skills in second-language communication, cultural awareness, analysis, evaluation, and teaching.
