
Dr. Deanna H. Mihaly,

Dr. Mihaly teaches all levels of Spanish language, literature, and culture. Her research focus is the contemporary testimonio in Latin America. She specializes in women's political writings and feminist literary theory. Her special interest in teaching is to encourage and support students
seeking to study abroad. Ms. Mihaly joined the EMU Spanish faculty in the Fall of 2005, and was recently appointed a Faculty Affiliate of the Women's and Gender Studies Program.

Ronald C. Cere,
Ph.D. (New York University),
Professor,
Dr. Cere is a Professor of Spanish at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) and has taught,
among other subjects, translation and Spanish for the Professions, notably
business, since 1970. He holds a graduate certificate of Business Administration
from N.Y.U. and speaks French, Italian and Portuguese. He has written numerous
articles for publishing companies (Mc Graw Hill, Harcourt Brace, etc.) as well
as professional journals (Hispania, Canadian Modern Language Journal,
Dimensions, etc.), and he has made over 100 presentations on Commercial Spanish
and other World language subjects, especially cross-cultural communication, at
national and international conferences. Professor Cere has served as advisor of
the International Business Language Programs at EMU and is currently the
coordinator for the latter's internship program. He was formerly the Director of
Career Services for the American Association of Teachers of Spanish & Portuguese (national) and is a fellow of the International Biographic Center in Cambridge, England, as well as a deputy governor of the American Biographical Institute of Research Associates, He is co-author of the widely and internationally used Exito comercial (3rd edition, Heinle & Heinle Publishers), a Business Spanish mediated instructional program, and is cited in Who's Who.

Geoffrey M. Voght,
Professor,
Ph.D. (University of Michigan),
Dr. Voght is a tenured, full professor of Spanish at Eastern Michigan University, where he has taught (1971-1983, 2000-2009) and held various administrative positions (1983-2000) for over thirty-seven years. Although trained in Golden Age Spanish literature, he has devoted most of his professional energies to promoting the development of interdisciplinary programs in World languages and international business. The author of several books and numerous articles in this field, he is most well known for the annual EMU conference on languages for world business, which he created and chaired or co-chaired for eighteen years (1982-2000).
Since returning to full-time teaching in the fall of 2000, Dr. Voght has focused his research on the life, times and works of the seventeenth-century Spanish author Pedro Calderón de la Barca. He is currently writing a biography of this famous playwright who served as court dramatist for Philip IV for over 40 years. His research in this area has also produced material for several articles that Dr. Voght intends to submit for publication in professional journals.
