TRAINING CONTENT AREA TEACHERS TO TEACH ENGLISH
This web site allows you to discover and learn more about the TCATTE initiative, discuss key topics with colleagues and qualified experts in the English language teaching and access various tools required to complete TCATTE workshops.
This is the primary content area of the TCATTE initiative promoted and administered by Eastern Michigan University professors in the Department of World Languages. The TCATTE initiative provides professional development workshops for certified secondary teachers to address the specific learning needs of their English language learners. One such example is the workshop highlighting vocabulary instruction.
"Addressing English Language Vocabulary Difficulties of ELL Students” is a corollary workshop to Foundations of Teaching English Language Learners, a part of the Training Content Area Teachers to Teach English (TCATTE) grant project. Participants will learned to recognize and address ELL students’ specific language problems with a focus on vocabulary. The course included refresher lessons on English grammar and linguistics, and hands-on practice spotting and correcting student vocabulary problems."
"The TCATTE grant is funded by the Federal Department of Education through the National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition’s National Professional Development Program CFDA No. 84.195N pursuant to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965."
