Requirements for Admission
Beginning the language and international trade program is as simple as being admitted to Eastern Michigan as a regular student.
Points of Interest
The College of Business is accredited by the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which grants accreditation to only a third of the country's business colleges.
If you're considering a career that may include travel to another country, you are likely aware of the importance of being fluent in more than a single language. So are the people in the Department of Foreign Languages and Bilingual Studies. The department was one of the first in the nation to create interdisciplinary programs combining foreign language study with international business and area studies. The programs have since been emulated by several colleges and universities around the country. Program graduates frequently receive internationally-recognized certificates of proficiency in business French, German, and Spanish. The tests are endorsed by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the German-American Chamber of Commerce, and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Want to meet someone who shares your interests? Is it important to you to gain experience before you have a diploma in hand? Do you have a desire to visit countries in which you might do business one day? The College of Business offers student/professional clubs and organizations, domestic and international co-ops and internships, and study-abroad opportunities for virtually every subject area. International travel-study opportunities are available every academic year. Language study programs are offered in Austria, France, Germany, Japan, and Mexico.
Scholarship Opportunities
Various scholarships are available through the College of Business and the Foreign Language Department. Contact the Office of Financial Aid, 403 Pierce Hall, for application materials and guidelines. Or call Financial Aid at (734) 487-0455.

The program faculty have many fine attributes. One of their best is that their primary focus is teaching you, and your fellow undergraduate students. They're also widely published and quite active in professional organizations--many serve as officers. Language and World Business faculty are drawn from fourteen academic disciplines in two colleges, Business and Arts and Sciences.
