WRC is involved in educational and outreach activities in Southeast Michigan.
It also serves as a local information center on water resouce issues.
Educational
Activities
The Water
Educational Training (WET) Science Project serves as a resource for
teachers and schools by offering:
Summer research projects for K-12 teachers,
An instructional technology laboratory, and
Water-related workshops and instructional materials.
The WET Project
is committed to facilitating student-directed scientific discovery of
the local environment, which can be integrated into local curricula
and a regional research project.
Outreach
Activities
The WRC partners
with area community groups, like the Huron River Watershed Council,
to provide community information and education on local waters and water
resources in general. Among the recent outreach activities of the WRC
are Creek Fest 2001, River Day 2001, Girl Scout Math and Science Day,
and presentations to local lake protection groups.

Resource Center
The WRC Resource
Center, located in 222 Strong Hall on the EMU campus, contains a variety
of educational and instructional resources for teachers and students.
A number of free publications are available related to water, including
guides to identifying purple loosestrife and zebra mussels. Internet
access and assistance are provided for those interested in researching
more information.
