About WET

< back

One of the major outcomes of the WET Science Project was capturing the attention of children and maintaining their interest in learning about science. Central to achieving this goal was raising students' awareness of local environmental issues. Evaluation data indicates that we achieved our goal. Our learning model, which supports achievement in writing and long-term understanding of science concepts, played an important role in helping us accomplish these goals. We feel this model has the potential to improve learning opportunities in after-school programs, as well as in the classroom.

It is our hope that the resources available on this Web site will motivate you to try new teaching strategies, focus your attention on local and global environmental issues, and inspire you to implement an after school science program of your own.
