WritEL Grant Program

Scholarships for TESOL Degrees!

Improving Outcomes for English Learners in Michigan

Are you a K-12 teacher interested in better supporting English language learners?

Would you like to receive grant funding toward a TESOL endorsement?

Would you like to help expand the research base on effective instruction for English Learners?

This program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition through the National Professional Development Program, in collaboration with Eastern Michigan University’s Department of World Languages and the Eastern Michigan Writing Project. The program will extend through the 2020-21 school year, pending a yearly, non-competitive renewal. Teachers from public and private schools in Michigan and Ohio are welcome to apply; those from Washtenaw and Livingston counties will find programming consistent with Reading Apprenticeship, Washtenaw Writing Collaborative, Study of Early Literacy, the National Writing Project, and SIOP initiatives. Veterans of these programs and newcomers are welcome to apply.
