"I make use of my masters in Womens Studies to seek out funding opportunities for women-related or gender-related projects. For instance, two years ago I pulled together a team of faculty originating with the Womens Studies Program and including all other areas of campus to submit a proposal to the Department of Justice for the "Violence Against Women on Campus" program. Also, as proposals are developed, I am always looking for appropriate ways to include a gender component in the project."

"My undergraduate degree in Women's and Gender Studies not only inspired me, it centered me. Having been interested in human righst and oppresion for as long as I can remember, the Women's and Gender Studies program at Eastern Michigan provided me with the wide range of courses, experiences, and opportunities I needed to help narrow my focus in preparation to begin my graduate work. I'm currently a graduate student in the Schools, Society, and Violence program at Eastern Michigan and I draw from my undergraduate experiences daily. Aside from the amazingly supportive staff and numerous opportunities to network with undergraduate and graduate students within the program, I found the Women's and Gender Studies program to be challenging, enlightening, and an absolutely fundamental component in my continuing growth as a person, as a student, and as an aspiring professional."
