Michigan Women's Studies Association
History

The Michigan Women’s Studies Association was the first academic association dedicated to the promotion of research and applied learning on issues relating to women in the United States.  Founded in 1974, the MWSA also established the Michigan Women’s Historical Center and Hall of Fame in Lansing.  Dr. Gladys Beckwith is the President and Executive Director.  The MWSA remains a dedicated advocate of women’s studies within and beyond colleges and universities in Michigan.

Eastern Michigan University’s Women and Gender Studies Program is proud to host the 2008 Michigan Women’s Studies Association Conference with the theme of Raising Our Voices: Power, Politics, and Gender.   The conference will be held Mar. 14-15, 2008.
