Provost's Message

Hello, everyone –

I want to begin by wishing each of you a Happy New Year and welcoming everyone back to campus for the Winter 2017 semester. Since our last fall newsletter, the Provost’s Office added a shorter, weekly communication—our Wednesday Briefing—that goes out by email each week as a way to share time sensitive announcements, opportunities and deadlines with faculty and staff members from the Division of Academic and Students Affairs (DASA). We hope that these shorter briefings are helpful and serve to highlight those items that are timely and can be scanned quickly. Our newsletter will then highlight longer items and topics of interest.

Global Engagement Council

At a meeting of the Faculty Affairs Committee of the Board of Regents in October 2013, a group of faculty members (Margaret Crouch, Judith Kullberg, Michael McVey and Shiri Vivek) recommended the establishment of an international center that would coordinate and provide support for EMU’s many international programs and initiatives.

Assessment

Established by the provost in August 2012, members of the University Assessment Committee (UAC) have worked together to coordinate and implement assessment activities around campus. The Committee is comprised of representatives from all five academic colleges, the library, the Student Success group, the general education program, IRIM and the Faculty Development Center.
