Last Call for Nominations: Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty Awards

The Faculty Senate is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the Ronald W. Collins Distinguished Faculty Awards for tenure-track and tenured faculty.  The awards are offered annually in the following categories: Teaching I, Teaching II, Research I, Research II, Creative Activity, and Service.  Nominations will be accepted through January 21, 2019.  Information on the nomination process and award guidelines are available online.

Faculty Research Fellowship and Sabbatical Leaves 

Full-time faculty are encouraged to submit applications for Faculty Research Fellowship (FRF) awards and/or Sabbatical Leave Awards.  Applicants must use the online proposal submission portal to upload their application materials.  Submit your applications before the January 31. 2019 deadline!

Distinguished Achievement Recognition Awards – Nominate Your Favorite Staff Person! 

‘Tis the season to recognize and honor Eastern’s staff members for the contributions they make to our campus community. Nominations for the Distinguished Achievement Recognition Awards will be accepted from January 21 through February 6 via EAGLESYNC.  The Distinguished Achievement Recognition Awards are divided into four categories:

  • Student Engagement and Success Award
  • Leadership Award
  • Innovation Award
  • Community Engagement and Service Award

Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity Showcase

Graduate Studies and Research is hosting the second annual faculty research showcase and strolling reception in conjunction with the George Liepa Sigma Xi Lecture to celebrate faculty and their recently disseminated research, scholarly, and creative activity.  All tenured and tenure-track faculty are invited to display posters, journal articles, books, artwork, videos of performing arts, etc., that highlight scholarly/creative activities from the 2018 calendar year.  Applications are due by February 9. Space is limited and places are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, so submit your application early!

2019 Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

The 2019 Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s life and legacy begins January 17.  The theme of this year’s celebration is, “We the People: Standing Against Injustice.”  We encourage all members of the Eastern community to participate in the academic programs, performances, and presentations throughout the week as your schedules permit.  Visit Eastern’s MLK website for additional information on the week’s schedule of events.

Give the Gift of Life: Donate Blood

Save the Date: New Employee Welcome Reception

All University employees are invited and encouraged to attend the next New Employee Welcome Reception on Friday, January 25, from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor Carillon Room of Halle Library. Cookies, fruit, and punch will be served. This event is held three times per year to encourage current EMU employees to meet and interact with new employees who have joined the University in recent months. We hope to see you there!

Call for Applications: Graduate Research Conference

The Graduate School is hosting the 2019 Graduate Research Conference (GRC) on Friday, March 22, 2019.  This annual event highlights graduate student research and creative activity and is an excellent platform for graduate students of all disciplines to share their work with the professional community. Call for Applications: Undergraduate Research Stimulus Program

The Undergraduate Research Office invites undergraduate students, with the assistance of their faculty mentors, to submit applications for the Summer 2019 Undergraduate Research Stimulus Program (URSP) Award. 

The URSP is intended to facilitate research partnerships between undergraduate students and Eastern Michigan University faculty.  Successful student applicants will receive a $2,000 fellowship in support of their research efforts.  The collaborating faculty member may receive $500, which can be used for lab/studio supplies or equipment, professional travel, or other professional expenses.  Applications will be accepted through February 15, 2019.  Information on the application process and award guidelines are available online.

Josephine Nevins Keal Fellowship:  Call for Applications

The Josephine Nevins Keal Professional Development Fellowship for Faculty Women is accepting applications for the upcoming 2019-2020 Academic Year. This fund assists Faculty Women in advancement of professional competence and rank. The fund is distributed by the President's Commission on Women.  Applications are available for downloading in MS Word or PDF format and are due by March 11, 2019 for professional expenditures dating July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020.  Please forward completed application materials to Kate Mehuron, Chair, Women’s Commission, at [email protected].
