Congratulations to the Following Individuals in New Academic Administrative Roles

  • Mary Brake, Interim Director, School of Technology and Professional Services Management (effective July 1)
  • Mohamed El-Sayed, new to EMU, Director, School of Engineering Technology (effective July 1)
  • Alexander (Jeff) Popko, Interim Department Head, World Languages (effective July 1)
  • Peter Higgins, Interim Department Head, Women and Gender Studies (effective August 16)

We welcome and congratulate these individuals, and wish them a smooth transition to their new roles.

Sean Woolf Appointed Interim Associate Director of Student Conduct, Community Standards and Wellness

Please join us in warmly welcoming Mr. Sean Woolf, M.F.A., NCC, as the new Interim associate director of SCCSW. Sean comes to us as a national certified counselor with knowledge of University process, protocol and individualized services and programming. Sean also has a tremendous wealth of counseling and development skills as well as previous career experience beyond EMU and higher education that makes him an exceptional fit to lead us through this transition and into a new era of innovation in conduct here at EMU and beyond; into the role of a model of excellence program for civic responsibility across the country.

Reminder: Performance Evaluations Due June 30

All performance evaluations for AP, PT, PE, AH, AC, CA and CS employees are due to be completed in the Simitive System by by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017. Have questions or need help in the Simitive system? For the fastest response, submit all support requests directly to Human Resources by clicking on the ‘Support’ link located in the upper right corner of the home page on the Simitive system. You can also email [email protected].

Ongoing Updates

Classroom Technology

TEL Systems, working with Information Technology and Physical Plant, continue installation of upgraded classroom technology, including document cameras, Blu-ray players, thin-client workstations and projection equipment. Over the next couple of weeks, they are targeting classrooms in Warner and Halle. They will also begin to renovate the AV in the Pray-Harrold and Mark Jefferson auditoriums. (Updated 6/28).

Traffic Flow Direction Reversal on West Circle Drive May 1–July 10

From May 1 through July 10, there will be modifications to the traffic and pedestrian patterns on West Circle Drive, resulting from the Central Heating Plant project. West Circle Drive traffic flow will reverse direction and will exit on to Oakwood Street from Structure Drive. Anthony Duty 487.1000 is the project contact person for the Physical Plant.

The West Circle Drive traffic changes are indicated on the Traffic Plan Map [PDF].

Portion of East Circle Drive Closed May 8–August 10

East Circle Drive is closed to all traffic for construction from Lowell St. to Pray Harrold, until August 10. This means that Best Drive, Ford Lot and Alexander Paid Lot are inaccessible. Please see below for accommodations:

  • Ford Staff Parking: Starting May 8, staff parking for Ford Lot will be moved to Alexander Lot, accessed through Sill Staff Lot.
  • Commuter Parking: Starting May 8, commuter parking for Ford Lot will be moved to the Ann Street Lot.
  • Ford Lot Reserved Parking: Will not be affected.

East Circle Drive will remain open from the Ann St. entrance to the cul-de-sac in front of Snow Health Center. If you have any questions, please review the Traffic Plan Map [PDF] for detours around the project site or contact Physical Plant Project Manager Anthony Duty 487.1000.
